Finish the installed airflow layout before adding case fans. The PWM/DC control guide covers header loading and a stable fan curve.
Pick the case around the hardware and the room you have. The NZXT H5 Flow is my straightforward tower route, the H7 Flow gives a larger working layout, and the Lian Li A3-mATX is the compact choice. Spend on usable airflow and access before a display feature you do not need.

Choose the build layout before the colour. The motherboard format, GPU dimensions, cooler height, power-supply location and storage bays must all work together. A case can advertise a long GPU and a large radiator without supporting both in your chosen arrangement. Measure the configuration you will actually install.

Best pc cases for gaming
For a first gaming tower I’d choose the H5 Flow or the Phanteks alternative before paying heavily for a display chassis. Compare the complete case-and-fan basket, GPU room and ease of assembly. A premium card can justify the larger H7 layout, especially when a thick radiator joins the plan.
| Best for | My choice | Why I’d choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Best overall straightforward gaming tower | NZXT H5 Flow (2024) | Conventional airflow layout for the balanced basket. |
| Best included-fan budget route | Phanteks XT Pro Ultra | Useful cooling layout without a premium display case. |
| Best larger premium GPU build | NZXT H7 Flow | More working room for graphics and cooling. |
| Best compact gaming footprint | Lian Li A3-mATX wood-front | Micro-ATX with a planned PSU and fan layout. |

Best pc cases for graphic design and photo editing
A design PC should be comfortable in the room and easy to maintain. I’d choose the H5 Flow for the straightforward workstation, or the fan-equipped Phanteks for a tighter complete budget. Neither requires the case to be the main visual attraction at the expense of the display or memory you use all day.
| Best for | My choice | Why I’d choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Best overall practical design tower | NZXT H5 Flow (2024) | Airflow and access with a restrained footprint. |
| Best fan-equipped starter case | Phanteks XT Pro Ultra | Retains budget for the monitor and memory. |
| Best larger studio appearance | Fractal Design North XL | A larger layout with a different finish. |
| Best compact design desk | Lian Li A3-mATX wood-front | For the micro-ATX and modest-GPU route. |

Best pc cases for video editing
For an editing tower with an AIO and a substantial graphics card, I’d start with the H7 Flow layout. The radiator, GPU, board and cables must work together while leaving storage accessible. The H5 is the simpler air-cooled learning-build choice. A radiator class should lead to a fit drawing, not an assumption that any 360mm cooler clears every board.
| Best for | My choice | Why I’d choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Best overall roomy editing tower | NZXT H7 Flow | Space for cooling, GPU and project-drive access. |
| Best modest learning workstation | NZXT H5 Flow (2024) | Simpler air-cooled editing configuration. |
| Best fan-equipped budget tower | Phanteks XT Pro Ultra | Complete-case option for the restrained basket. |
| Best larger studio finish | Fractal Design North XL | When the cooling layout fits and appearance matters. |

Best pc cases for blender and 3d rendering
Long rendering sessions make ventilation and maintenance more important than display features. I’d choose the H7 for the premium CPU/GPU workstation because it gives the build room to work. The H5 serves the restrained single-card route, while the North XL is the larger studio-looking alternative.
| Best for | My choice | Why I’d choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Best overall workstation space | NZXT H7 Flow | Room for the cooler, GPU and maintenance. |
| Best restrained GPU-render build | NZXT H5 Flow (2024) | Practical tower without overspending on the enclosure. |
| Best larger studio appearance | Fractal Design North XL | For a workstation that sits in the room. |
| Best compact modest-card build | Lian Li A3-mATX wood-front | Micro-ATX with the planned lower-heat configuration. |

Best pc cases for everyday work
For ordinary work I’d keep the case simple, with accessible filters and sockets facing a useful direction. The H5 is the standard tower route. The Phanteks can keep the complete case-and-fan purchase restrained, while the A3 makes a smaller integrated-graphics desk PC with a compatible micro-ATX board.
| Best for | My choice | Why I’d choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Best overall office tower | NZXT H5 Flow (2024) | Straightforward airflow and access. |
| Best complete-budget tower | Phanteks XT Pro Ultra | Included-fan route without decorative priority. |
| Best compact desk footprint | Lian Li A3-mATX wood-front | Micro-ATX with integrated graphics. |
| Best larger studio-office finish | Fractal Design North XL | When the footprint and appearance suit the room. |

Best pc cases for quiet and compact builds
The A3 is my compact choice because it uses a mainstream micro-ATX board and flexible PSU layout without requiring a riser-cable build. Plan around the 165mm cooler limit, GPU thickness and supply position. With 25mm bottom fans, Lian Li gives 61mm of GPU thickness space; a thicker card needs another layout.
| Best for | My choice | Why I’d choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Best overall compact footprint | Lian Li A3-mATX wood-front | 26.3L design with configuration-dependent space. |
| Best quietness-first tower alternative | NZXT H5 Flow (2024) | Room for uncomplicated air cooling. |
| Best restrained tower with fans | Phanteks XT Pro Ultra | A larger footprint with useful starting cooling. |

Match the choice to the rest of the build
Check motherboard format first. Then allow cooler height including any raised RAM-side fan, GPU length and thickness, power lead space and PSU cable bends. For an AIO, use the radiator-plus-fan thickness and the selected mounting position. The A3’s separate maxima are not a guarantee that every maximum-sized part fits together.
| Decision | Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Footprint | Desk space and ventilation | Leave room around the intake and for opening the panels. |
| Hardware | Board format, GPU, PSU and cooler | Check the combined arrangement, including fans and radiator. |
| Everyday access | Filters, front USB and cable space | A case should stay easy to maintain after the first build. |
Use case airflow and fit guide for the practical selection details. Match the other parts with motherboards · power supplies · cpu coolers.
Set up the component properly
Prepare the case, standoffs and major wiring before installing the board. Route cables away from fan blades and keep the intended intake path clear. Fit the panels and assess the complete system under its normal workload, then adjust the fan layout or curve if necessary.
