Start Here: choose your next step
Start with the job you need to do. You do not need to read every guide before choosing your next step.
I am building my first PC
Write down the games you play, the display you own or want, and your maximum spend. Decide whether that amount covers a tower alone or a complete setup. Then use the planning guide and choose a parts list.
- Plan your first gaming PC.
- Compare the complete build routes.
- Check exact compatibility before ordering.
- Prepare and assemble the PC.
- Set up BIOS, Windows and drivers.
Ready to choose tower parts? Start with PC Builder for an AM5 gaming or everyday build, a 3D preview and an estimate you can adjust.
I already have a PC
Record the CPU, graphics card, motherboard, memory, storage, power supply and case model. Check performance in the tasks that bother you. A slow game, a full SSD and an unreliable first boot need different answers.
I need help choosing a part
Start with the component’s role and the system it will join. Compare the complete platform cost for a CPU, the intended games and display for a graphics card, and the exact fit and connections for everything else.
I need a monitor or peripherals
Choose the display before spending the rest of the graphics budget. Then select a keyboard, mouse and audio arrangement around your desk, hands and the way you play. Check what is already included with the screen or parts.
Before you buy
- Write the complete model names, including capacity and revision where relevant.
- Read the current support list and manuals.
- Check the delivered basket total, seller and returns route.
- Allow for essential items that are not included.
- Save the final parts list and check any substitute again.
Choose parts for the PC you want
Use the beginner guide for the full parts checklist and assembly route. The purpose guides below connect each component choice to its detailed buying shortlist.
Choose the purpose before the parts
For a particular job, start with Flight Simulation builds, Music Production builds, CAD and Engineering builds, Photography and Lightroom builds or Software Development builds. For storage and always-on services, use the home-server guide hub. The complete guide index includes every specialist route.
