Use the power-supply fit and load guide alongside this shortlist. Modular cable compatibility and efficiency versus wall power settle the connection and running-power details.

Choose a power supply for the exact components, their connectors and the case. The MSI MAG A650BN is the simpler modest-build route; the Corsair RM850e (2025) adds modular wiring and a native modern GPU lead; the Corsair SF750 (2024) is the compact SFX option. Wattage alone does not settle the choice.

Use the exact graphics-card manufacturer recommendation as a starting point, then account for the rest of the build and planned upgrades. A large factory-overclocked card can specify different power connections and capacity from a reference card using the same GPU. A cheaper PSU is not a saving if it cannot supply the required leads.

Choose the purpose below for the direct shortlist. Each section also links to its detailed buying guide and the complete matching PC build. If you are starting from an empty desk, use the beginner’s complete PC guide first.

Best power supplies for gaming

The RM850e (2025) is my overall tower choice because it covers the modern GPU route with practical modular wiring. It is the PSU in the balanced and premium gaming baskets here, rather than a claim that every gaming PC needs 850W. The A650BN belongs with the modest CPU/GPU combination; a card whose maker recommends 850W needs an appropriate supply and connectors.

Best power supplies for graphic design and photo editing

A design PC with a modest GPU does not need the highest-wattage PSU in the shop. I’d choose the A650BN for the restrained basket where its connectors and capacity suit the parts, or the RM850e for the fuller modular workstation route. The useful reasons to spend more are the wiring, planned GPU and ownership layout, rather than the Photoshop badge on the build.

Best power supplies for video editing

Video workloads can keep both CPU and GPU busy for sustained periods, so I’d plan the PSU around the complete workstation instead of only a nominal GPU wattage. The RM850e is the balanced editing route here. The 1000W Pure Power alternative belongs with the heavier CPU/GPU and expansion plan, where the extra capacity has a defined purpose.

Best power supplies for blender and 3d rendering

For the single-GPU Blender workstation, I’d start with the RM850e and the exact card’s requirements. The heavier 9950X and premium GPU basket points towards the 1000W alternative. Rendering can maintain load for long periods, which makes a well-ventilated supply and sensible cable route part of the workstation plan.

Best power supplies for everyday work

An integrated-graphics office PC needs sensible power provision rather than an enthusiast GPU supply by default. The A650BN is my straightforward ATX shortlist, with fixed cables routed deliberately. The RM850e is a modular alternative when the layout or a future GPU gives you a reason to spend more. Its capacity is spare room, not a claim that office work consumes 850W.

Best power supplies for quiet and compact builds

I’d choose the SF750 for the A3 build because space for the GPU, connectors and routing matters. The smaller format can make the plan easier than a long ATX supply. Use the modest-power compact basket and correct bracket. The 750W rating does not make it the right choice for a card whose manufacturer recommends 850W.

Match the choice to the rest of the build

Use only the leads approved for the exact PSU. CPU EPS and GPU PCIe plugs are different even when both involve eight pins. Fully seat the GPU connector and leave the cable space specified by its manufacturer. Keep the intake ventilated, and never open the PSU enclosure to diagnose a fault.

Set up the component properly

Route the 24-pin board lead, CPU EPS lead and GPU leads before access becomes tight. Check latches and connector seating with the PC disconnected from mains power. Keep unused modular cables with the PSU for future changes, labelled so they cannot be mixed with another unit’s set.
