Use the benchmark reading guide to compare the intended resolution and modes. The GPU overview brings the screen, memory and complete cost together.

At 1080p I’d aim for a useful balance of graphics, processor and screen. At 1440p I’d put more of the budget into the GPU. Choose around the games and settings you enjoy, then match the card to the rest of the build.

For the current exact-model shortlist, use best graphics cards for gaming PCs. Compare the compact and higher-performance tiers against the screen target established here.

1080p is 1920 × 1080; common 1440p is 2560 × 1440. The second contains about 78% more pixels, calculated from those dimensions. It does not follow that every game becomes 78% slower because other limits and rendering work also matter.

At low visual settings, a high-refresh 1080p game can depend heavily on CPU performance. A demanding 1440p game can require stronger graphics or lower settings. Compare the specific workload.

Read the right graphs

Find tests at the intended resolution and note the preset, ray tracing and reconstruction mode. A 1440p graph using upscaling may not represent native 1440p rendering. Keep generated frames separate from rendered performance.

The TechSpot RX 9060 XT review compares the card across a useful range of games. Its game comparisons are useful for choosing the card around the settings you enjoy.

The two cards I’d compare

Compare the ASUS Dual RTX 5060 8GB OC for a constrained 1080p budget when your games and settings suit it. Its 8GB capacity needs particular attention for demanding textures.

Compare the ASUS Dual RX 9060 XT 16GB for the 1440p route when current price and game-specific behaviour make sense. I’d value its 16GB capacity for a new 1440p setup and tune the more demanding settings around each game.

Include fit and power in the price comparison

A card that needs a PSU or case replacement can lose its price advantage. Compare the exact model dimensions and connectors, not just the GPU chip name. Partner coolers and power arrangements vary.

Measure usable case space including the power lead for the ASUS Dual. Leave the intake area clear and select the intended screen refresh mode after the driver is installed.

Choose the complete pairing

Read the display pairing guide and the memory guide. If the higher resolution requires spending beyond your whole setup budget, a well-chosen 1080p screen and appropriate settings can be the more useful configuration.
